I will be finishing a 65 hour work week in about half an hour. Something screwed up with our overnight and I just spent all day of my Saturday working from home trying to fix it.

The money is fucking awesome!! But the time sucks. I used to work no more than a 40-hour work week at my old job. Truth be told, that place was on a 35-hour work week anyway. Then I came here and started doing 43-45 hours. Lately, I've been up to 50. And now I'm at 65. The stress of it is almost too much.

I miss my 9 to 5.

It has been so very long since I posted and I'm out of excuses. Busy. Plain busy, is all I can say. So I'm going to take a cue from C and sum up my life. I don't have very many segments so I'm just going to make two lists.

Entertainment (i.e. what I should be ignoring in order to have a life!)

  • Summer is rather boring. Without my normal TV schedule, those weeknights stretch ahead slowly. It's painful sometimes.
  • However, Rescue Me is my saving grace. It is possibly one of the best shows on TV. And I <3 Dennis Leary!
  • Oh yeah and there's Man vs. Wild! Bear Gryls is the fucking man! Seriously, I heart the Discovery Channel, but this show is the bomb. There is nothing like seeing a man jump into freezing cold glacier water, get out, strip naked and start doing push-ups. Or pick up elephant poo and squeeze it to get a drink. Or eat a sheep's eye. Or a live scorpion. Talk about balls!
  • I've recently discovered King of Queens. Why I didn't pick up on this show long ago, I have no idea but I love it. Carrie and Doug remind me so much of Steve and I and Kevin James is HILARYIOUS!
  • I'm watching Forrest Gump right now. I forgot how much I missed that movie. It's so very sad but so very good.
  • Still playing the XBox and the Wii. I'm still sorely addicted to Guitar Hero II and am getting really, really good at it. The Wii is fun but not as addicting for me as it is for Steve. Sure is a fun party game though.
  • You know that Dyson commercial where the vacuums squeak like dog toys? Yea, my dog loves that commercial. Every time it comes on, no matter what he's doing, he perks up and cocks his head sideways at the TV and starts wagging his tail. Is it wrong that I play it on the laptop all the time and laugh hysterically as he tries to sniff around and figure out where the noise is coming from?
  • I've seen Fantastic Four and Knocked Up in the past month. The first was decent for what I expected. Superhero movies are fun and I will always hold a soft spot in my heart for Julian MacMahon. He was Cole on Charmed long before he was Christian on Nip/Tuck. The latter was hysterical, though not as funny as I thought it was going to be. People were saying it was funnier than The 40-Year Old Virgin but I would definitely have to disagree.

Life in General (i.e. what makes me want to throw all the cares away and waste my life on the above)

  • All I feel like I do anymore is work. It's crazy. The money is nice but the 50/55-hour work weeks can really take a toll on me. Particularly because I'm working full 8-9 hour days then coming home at night and working another 3/4 hours. And I'm guranteed to work on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. So by Friday, I'm a little fed up with it. I just keep telling myself that the money is nice. The money is nice. When it stops being nicer than my sanity is when I'll crack.
  • I was in Orlando a few weeks ago for work. It was nice. My mom went with me and we had a nice time. Got to have some very good dinners together and I learned some new stuff for work. But it was nice to get home. Orlando isn't the most fascinating place in the world. And the love bugs were horrible! So gross. They would swarm and slam against my car and make an awful mess. But it was nice to get away for a little while.
  • The weekend I got back, I fried my laptop. It was storming really bad and the laptop was plugged in on the floor next to me. I reached over to unplug it and the glass of wine sitting on the floor next to it got knocked over into it. And smoke started coming out. It was bad. Apparently, I friend the motherboard up real good and that's not covered under warranty. So I just bought a new one since Dell wanted to charge me $500 to fix it and a new one cost me $150 more. Now we're just going to get a new motherboard for the old one and we'll both have laptops.
  • Sammy, my baby, was awfully sick a few weeks ago. I came home from work and he got sick, but I just thought he had a tummy ache. As the night progressed, it got worse. We took him to the emergency vet and they recommended he stay but all my emergency money was tied up in expenses for my business trip because I still hadn't been reimbursed. They didn't really explain how serious it was so we just took him home thinking we'd watch over him. He only got worse. About two hours later, he was vomiting and pooing straight red blood and I had been hysterically crying all night. So we finally took him back and found out he had HGE (hemoragghic gastroenteritis). There's no known cause and it's said to come on very quickly and suddenly. It basically causes the red blood cell count to rise which then causes the blood to clot and the circulation to slow down, hence killing the animal. 70% is life threatening, Sammy's was at 68% when they admitted him. But he's much, much better now and is even doing awesome with his training and aggression. He hasn't growled or snapped us at all in a week or so which is definite progress. I'm just so happy he's better. I was so scared for a minute that we were going to lose him.
  • Steve's buddy races his little 4-cylinder Mustang at the Florence Motor Speedway so we've been going there on the weekends. It's about a two-hour drive and it's a circle track, which I have found to be much more interesting than the straight drag strip. We're heading up there tomorrow night so it should be pretty fun.

Well, I think that's all for now. I'm trying to come up with a new look for this place so maybe that will inspire me to write. I've just been so tired from working so much lately that I have no inspiration to write.

So in the words of Forrest, "That's all I have to say about that"
