My iPod Research

For you iPod users: I want one, but I'm not sure which one. I have two choices. I can pay either $249 for the 4gb Nano, which is brand new, super small and ultra trendy. Or I can pay $249 for the old iPod 20gb one that holds more songs, is a little bit older and a little bit bigger. Or I could just go for the $199 2gb Nano.

What do you think? And here's some questions that I have about them.

1. Do they have FM radio on them? I have one small Motorola mp3 player that also has an FM tuner that I can switch back and forth between.
2. You can load just any mp3 on it, right? You don't have to get them from iTunes.
3. What accessories would you recommend?
4. Do you find it difficult finding ALL of those songs to fit on there because right now, I don't know if I can think of 500 songs, let alone 20,000.
5. Would you recommend I get one? I have an cd player in my car that plays mp3's so I'm not 100& sure exactly what I would NEED it for beyond fulfilling my desire to finally figure out what I've been missing.

UPDATE: New layout, finally! J's gorgeous fall-inspired blog layout made me get up off my butt and do something here. And yes, it's different than what I've been using but I like it. I've had it sitting on my hard drive for almost two months now.

I've added some things and am still working on some of the content. You can see my Flickr sidebar over there and the links to my accounts on Deviant Art, mySpace and lastFm. I'm actually expanding more out onto the web.

I still don't know which iPod I want or if I want to buy accessories or anything. I also want a new digital camera but maybe that can wait until after Christmas. Not sure though because once I get an idea like that into my head, I usually end up following through with it right away. So I'd still be interested in your input on the iPod. Let me know and help me make a decision.

Now I can breathe a bit easier and concentrate more on writing here.

    Thanks!

I was checking on the iRivers and they're still an option but I'm not sure. I have money to spend and stuff I want to buy and the iPods are so trendy. Damn me for wanting to jump on the bandwagon.

Grrr, why is the site being so uncooperative tonight? I'll deal with it tomorrow. Now I'm going to watch ER, eat some Oreos and plan my budget.

I also don't know why the rest of your comment isn't showing up on this template but I see the full text in MT so don't worry about it!

    Very, very pretty!

There's no FM radio and you can load any mp3 on them.

cool layout...i need to do something new.

no fm radio, but you can buy accessories that'll allow such a feature.

you'll fill it up pretty quickly if you love music. i have a 20gb ipod and i have to delete a few tracks every now and then so i can add more.

    Gorgeous. Gorgeous.

I LOVE my iPod; they're by far the most simple mp3 players on the market, as far as using both the machine and iTunes. If you want extras like an FM radio, you'll want to look at other players. My uncle just traded his 40gig for my 20gig; I have far more than 20 gig of music.

As far as accessories, I don't have any. Just my headphones and the iPod itself.
