For awhile, I've used Movable Type to power not only the blog portion of this site, but also the content portion. This meant that when MT went paid, I couldn't upgrade because the free version of 3.0 limited you to three blogs and I had quite a bit more than that. Needless to say, I finally sat down about two weeks ago and out of boredom more than anything, I consolidated those blogs and upgraded. I'm happy with what I see so far though I haven't tested posting yet, so I guess we'll see at the end of this entry.
Before I go any further, I'd like to wish a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to my lovely hostee, Brooke. I've had every intention of getting on here and posting for the past four weeks, particularly on her birthday to wish her one but things have been crazy here! So here's to you, dahling - I'm sure it was a great time!
Onto other things, mainly my extended absence from here. This time, it was warranted in a sense. When I wasn't running around like a maniac and dealing with summer schedule, I was hibernating and sleeping in my living room because it's been so hot here and that's where the air conditioning is. My mother used to keep the air down to 55 degrees on any given summer day so going from that to 90 degrees with 90% humidity was a major adjustment - one that I'm still working on.
I'd like to get a new layout up here, one revolving around some pictures I took of a few pretty flowers, but to be honest, what I was going to do would look a lot like Melantha's new layout, so I think I'll hold off until I return from South Carolina. Perhaps I'll garner some inspiration from the land of Dixie.
On the vacation subject, I cannot tell you how excited I am to be leaving. We'll be heading off on July 15th and will be in Charleston until the 24th and I can't wait. I haven't taken a day off at all for 2005, aside from our holidays off, and I am so stressed that it's really starting to weigh on me. Plus, my mom is going to take some time off and she wants to go to the Waterpark, the aquarium and to a company picnic that they'll be having on Folly Beach. Aside from all that, the new Cooper Rivers Bridges will be opening the day after we get there and I'm really excited I'll be there for that because as long as I can remember, the old bridges were there and the past few times I've been down South, I've seen them build the new bridges and it's all just a part of my history that I want to finish a chapter to.
In the past month, I've attended fifteen meetings for work. I spent every night of every weekend drinking and partying. I've seen four movies, watched three season finales and two season premieres. I've been to one baseball game and one concert. I've played numerous hours of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas because it FINALLY came out on XBox. Not to mention, I spent every single night last week away from home.
It has been a rather tiring month. Interesting, but tiring.
I think I have poison ivy or sumac or oak or - well, pick one. Just a little bit but it itches and I never was good at NOT itching. Steve and I went on a conquest at his grandfather's for bamboo that he had planted about ten years. I swore it was indigineous to China but who know - the shit had sprouted like wildfire and was all over the place and at least thirty feet high. Gorgeous, but there was a lot of stomping through the woods to get to it.
I also sprained my ankle again on Saturday night. Apparently, flat sandals aren't very beneficial either because I rolled the same ankle I rolled about two weeks ago and it's pretty bad. Still can walk on it but it hurts and it's swollen and I'm limping again. I had actually rolled it again around the 5th of this month - I slipped off a curb at a work function and fell flat on my butt. Being the champion that I am at this, I stood up, brushed myself off and said 'I'm okay, I do that all the time'. It's turning into a party trick for me - unfortunately one with painful consequences.
Steve and I went to see Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and The Black Crowes on the 17th and ieieieieie, it was FREAKING AWESOME!! I loved it - we had an awesome time and we were THREE ROWS BACK and RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE SPEAKER. The Black Crowes put on awesome show and Tom Petty played every single one of his hits and I, in my drunken stupor, sang along to all of them as loud as possible and walked away not being able to hear for at least a week, but it was TOTALLY WORTH IT! Annd, Kate Hudson was there, on the side, watching Chris Robinson and she was like TOTALLY TEN FEET AWAY! We kept pointing her out and saying 'KATE HUDSON IS HERE!' (I emphasize the screaming because we were totally screaming by the end of the concert LOL) I have some pictures and a little bit of video that I want to get around to posting.
I lost my wallet again. I had to put my car in for service on Friday and that was the last time I remember seeing it. Steve's little brother came home from Germany and we took the loaner to the airport and I didn't buy anything there. I have my debit card but my wallet has my driver's license, all my credit cards and OUR STUDENT IDS! Our irreplacible student id's that Steve and I got back when we were students and cannot get back because we are no longer students and - GASP - do you know what that means? We might have to pay full price for movie tickets. I have placed a call to the dealership and asked them to check and the guy said one of the salepeople had loaned it out on Saturday and that they were trying to track them down. *crosses fingers that they find it* I feel like such a dunce sometimes!
Two and a half more weeks before vacation. There's the Fourth of July, which I've always loved. War of the Worlds comes out on Wednesday and Fantastic Four comes out on July 8th. Steve and I have a wedding to go to on the 9th. The Live 8 concert is on the 2nd but I'm not too sure about that - one million people going to a free concert screams riot in the streets to me and personally, I like my limbs. Only those few things and vacation will be here!
And now, onto some random thoughts from the last month. Read ahead if you choose - they're the more funny moments that I've just wrote down and decided I'd like to share with you.
There's nothing on TV on Wednesday nights anymore. You think that would get me motivated to do some work on the computer, but alas, no. I've been in a really bad funk lately. I'm just going through some stuff emotionally and it's wrecking havoc on my world. I hope to work through it soon.
