Just Keep Livin’

Happy Sunday!

How was your weekend? Can you believe it’s July already? It really seems like time just flies by so quickly these days, these months, these years.  I mean, June itself was just kind of a ridiculously busy time for us, between going through my Grandpa’s illness and subsequent passing and then my traveling to St. Louis and us having people in to visit and throwing a Third of July party.

I am exhausted.

And that’s why we’ve done nothing this weekend. NOTHING.  Except Friday we drove about 30 minutes out to get some pizza at our favorite pizza joint (JI Pizza, it is so delicious and the closest thing to the corner shop pizza we grew up on in Philly – definitely worth the drive).  Other than that, the only time I even went outside and left the house was when I went to McDonald’s to pick up breakfast (in my PJ pants and t-shirt; drive-thru FTW!).  I reorganized the office, played with the pups, did some laundry, shoved chips in my mouth because I’m too lazy to make real food and drank some (read: a bottle) of wine while surfing the Internet and watching movies and shitty reality TV.

So a successful weekend.  Exactly what I needed.

Stranded at the Drive-In

There’s a drive-in about an hour away from here in Beaufort that Steve and I like to visit on a leisurely Saturday night.  For the price of $6 per person, you get two new release movies.  And their snack bar has an abundance of really good yet reasonably priced junk food.  So we usually make an afternoon out of it – get there early, eat some dinner then settle in for two movies and head home afterward.

A couple of weekends ago we went to see The Green Lantern (eh!) and the Hangover II (double eh!).  And I had to document our journey, mostly because I was bored waiting for the movies to start.

I like men. I like them rugged and strong and confident and slightly bad ass.

I also like them shirtless.

Here are some of my current favorite shirtless men:

Joe Manganiello (Alcide Herveaux – True Blood) — oh my heaven! Werewolves do run hot! Also, he’s just got that rugged lumberjack look.

Summer Plans

June has just flown by for me and it seems like our summer never really got started since we went right from Memorial Day into handling all of this.  But seeing as how today is the first day of summer, I’d figured I’d share a little summer to-do list with you all since I have my heart set on just letting go and enjoying things this season.  It really kind of helps to make those long hot and humid days less drawn out and monotonous and give us something to look forward to.

Summer Lovin’

Summer Lovin’

Summer is quickly approaching and here in South Carolina, the humidity has descended upon us.  But with this comes the summer fun – beach days, BBQs, movies, drinks outside and long chats into the night.  Flip-flops, sunscreen, yard work – it’s all part of the loveliness that is wrapped into the long summer days and cool summer nights punctuated by the sounds of crickets and the brief flickers of lightning bugs.

Marrying Up

I know there have been tons of other more important things going on in the world but there’s one thing I wanted to say and I’m kind of late on it since I didn’t technically open this site until Saturday.

This .. was perfection!

I didn’t wake up early, I didn’t throw any parties.  As a matter of fact, I DVR’ed it and fast forwarded through to the good parts.  When I was younger, I had always thought William was kind of cute but truth be told, Harry got the better end of that ugly stick.  I mean, he’s not atrocious by any means and being a Prince sure does help in the getting girls game and I’m sure he’s quite a lovely person.

But Kate is simply lovely.  Perfection at it’s finest.  Am I the only one thinking he got the better end of the deal.  I mean, she is stunning and she makes such a great royal.  I bet after all of the bad press and shitty couple of years the royal family has had, the Queen is looking at Kate like she’s a breath of fresh air.

Because she is!  I could care less about the rest of the wedding but those two dresses, I am IN LOVE with.  I want to get married or throw a party just so I can get some replicas and wear them.  She could not have looked more beautiful.

And when you take that and wrap it up into the whole pomp and circumstance and tradition and fairytaleness of the whole day, you can help but be a tiny bit enamored.

I’m sure Diana would be proud.

As an aside, a probably awful, mean, hateful aside – does anyone see the two poor unfortunate looking little girls in the first picture to the left of William?  I mean, I guess they’re not horrible but I can gurantee if I looked back on a picture of me like that I’d be kind of sad, particularly if it had to do with such a large occasion.
